Shores is a Sponsor of the Miss North Carolina Pageant

In 2010, Nadia Moffet, Miss North Carolina USA at the time, went to Shores to see if we could fix a problem with the hem of her evening gown that had been heavily soiled from stage debris and cosmetic products during the Miss North Carolina USA Pageant before she wore it in the Miss USA Pageant. Shores specializes in gown cleaning, and our professional gown cleaners took great care when removing all the stains, returning her gown to near pristine condition.

“I was so impressed with Nadia,” said Brian Harrell, General Manager of Shores Fine Dry Cleaning, “that I decided to take a look at getting involved with the Miss North Carolina USA Pageant.”  Brian learned that the Miss North Carolina USA Pageant provides opportunities for young women to achieve their personal, professional, and educational goals.  Many of the participants and winners go on to do great things both for others and in the communities in which they live.  Nadia is the perfect example of this; in 2015, the News & Record recognized Nadia as a Rising Star for her role in helping young girls become leaders and role models through a nonprofit she founded and leads.

Nadia isn’t the only Miss North Carolina USA making headlines.  In May, Cheslie Kryst a 2017 JD/MBA graduate of Wake Forest University was crowned Miss USA, making her the third North Carolinian to be awarded that honor.  Not only is Cheslie a practicing attorney, she also started a blog called White Collar Glam, which helps women find affordable, appropriate, and professional clothing for both the workplace and every day life.  I read a number of her entries with my favorite so far being tips on purchasing a suit.  I also subscribed to her newsletter, so you may see links to her tips on Facebook and Twitter.

We could continue on about the participants and winners, but I think you get the idea of all the talent that lies within the ladies that are involved with the Miss North Carolina USA Pageant.  The simple act of helping one person with a hem nine years ago introduced Shores to a whole new world of opportunities to help those that help others.  It’s been a terrific experience, and we look forward to continuing the relationship for years to come.
